Brighton or Tie – Double Chance

Brighton could have a big say on where the Premier League trophy ends up this season when they welcome title-chasing Arsenal to the Amex Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Gunners are battling with Liverpool and Manchester City in the pursuit of top honours in England and they head into this contest on the back of Wednesday’s comfortable 2-0 victory over Luton.

But Mikel Arteta’s side are unlikely to have things their own way when they head to the south coast to face a Brighton outfit that have made the Amex a fortress this term.

Team news

Solly March, Jack Hinshelwood, Kaoru Mitoma, Billy Gilmour and James Milner are all missing for Brighton, who could have Evan Ferguson back after a knock.

Bukayo Saka should be back in contention for Arsenal after missing the Luton win with a thigh issue, while Declan Rice, Gabriel Jesus and Jorginho are expected to return to the starting XI after coming off the bench last time out.

Jurrien Timber remains sidelined although Arteta is positive he will play some football before the end of the campaign.

The stats

Brighton are unbeaten in their last 14 home matches in all competitions, last tasting defeat at the Amex Stadium when going down 3-2 to AEK Athens in the Europa League on September 21.

The Seagulls have suffered just one defeat from 14 home games in the league this season, with seven victories and six draws accompanying that loss.

Arsenal have not tasted defeat in the top flight since the turn of the year, winning nine and drawing once.

Of the Gunners’ four league losses this term, three have come on the road – losing at Newcastle, Aston Villa and Fulham.

Prediction

There is no denying Arsenal’s form right now as they keep pressing for Premier League glory but they could suffer a blow to those title aspirations at Brighton, who have been a force to be reckoned with at home.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are unbeaten in their last 14 assignments at the Amex Stadium, beating the likes of Roma, Marseille and Tottenham and drawing with Liverpool in this time.

The Seagulls have also shown defensive resilience, keeping clean sheets in four of their last seven home fixtures in all competitions, and it will be tough for this free-scoring Arsenal side to break them down.

Given the fact Brighton have drawn six times in their own backyard, the better option here is to back them in the double chance market to cover two outcomes.
